Blonde Ambition by Saige Jacobs

Alright ladies, lets talk about hair color and finding the perfect hair stylist for a second. I hope I am not alone when I say I take my relationship with my stylist VERY serious. So much so that I have been bouncing around Seattle for 3 years trying to find someone who gets my hair needs completely and who I click with. Not to say the people who I have worked with haven’t done the job, but there is just an unspoken bond when it comes to the perfect blonde (or hair color in general).

Let me give you a little back story… My wonderful momma is a hair stylist and she has been doing my hair since my very first haircut at age one. I constantly had her changing up my color and cut and really didn’t understand the struggle (or how much money I was saving) from finding a stylist that you love. Even when I went away to college she would come visit me, hair supplies in toe, or when I traveled home for holidays she would also give me a fresh color and trim. It took me 25 years to realize that even though I am much closer to home now then I was in college, it just doesn’t make sense to not have another stylist in my own city whom I just adore.

Saige Jacobs or (jacobsdesign1 on instagram) and I connected through Instagram (because where else do you stalk hair stylists) and I met her down at her adorable Salon, Collage on First in Belltown. First thing, I was so excited to see a parking lot across the street. I know that seems silly to say, but if you live in Seattle you totally get this. Secondly, she was so warm and inviting and really knows her stuff. She listened to what I wanted and had me show her photos, then she talked about the process and we agreed upon it all before she even started. I know what your thinking, “Rechelle, all stylists do that” and I agree that they do ask, but she really asked all the correct questions to make sure she fully understood. Now let me tell you this, I am so particular about my blonde and recently I have been having a hard time finding someone who can get me the bright blonde that I really desire, When she was done I was practically jumping up and down because I loved my color so much.

She first went through and gave my roots a great new color (much like my natural) and pulled it down to give them a fresh base for the new blonde to go over. This is a desired effect for me because it allows me to go a little longer between colors. After washing that out and drying my hair she hand painted or balayage my color. She also knew that the look I was going for wasn’t exactly a full balayage so she also foiled in some pieces for a bright top to bottom color. I have SO much hair so I really applaud her for taking the time to make sure the color really blended well. Some stylists take larger sections of hair and make the highlights a more striped look, not something I EVER want. She chatted about what she was doing the whole time and gave me tips and tricks to keep my new color looking healthy. I am not kidding when I say she REALLY knows her stuff.

As you can tell I was more of a golden blonde before. She achieved that icy blonde color I have been wanting for a while now and I can’t thank her enough for the time she took to make sure I was getting exactly that. She made me a forever client (sorry mom) and it feels great to have this new relationship here in Seattle!
